Conveyor Spillage Reduction

PROJECT SUMMARY

PPM were engaged to reduce conveyor belt spillage at a coal terminal.

• The existing conveyor cleaning system was outdated and inefficient creating significant carry-back. Cleaning the conveyor belt was difficult and labour intensive.
• The project team consulted and benchmarked with other Operations and Coal Terminals; belt cleaning specialists contractors and suppliers to develop a project plan – it was a team effort. The estimated benefit on a 12Mtpa throughput @ 4000tph was a 94% or 90tpa reduction in coal spillage.
• PPM was promoted in the Australian Mining Magazine and nominated for an award at the 2017 Australian Mining Prospect Awards in the category of ‘Innovative Mining Solution’.
