The Opportunity
PPM is seeking an accomplished Principal Engineering – Underground to lead the underground engineering workstream for a major Directional Underground Coal Seam Expansion Study.
This role will play a pivotal role in defining the future underground development strategy, ensuring engineering solutions are safe, practical, efficient and operationally sustainable. You will work alongside mining, ventilation, operational and project delivery specialists to establish an integrated development pathway from study phase through to future execution.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex underground engineering challenges while influencing long-term mine development decisions.
What You’ll Be Doing
Lead underground engineering activities across the study.
Develop underground infrastructure concepts and development strategies.
Assess technical risks, constraints and opportunities.
Coordinate interfaces between mining, ventilation and surface infrastructure teams.
Support project execution planning and constructability reviews.
Contribute to cost estimation and project development activities.
Provide technical governance and assurance.
Mentor engineering teams and support knowledge sharing.
Engage with clients and operational stakeholders.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor of Engineering.
RPEQ or CPEng highly desirable.
18+ years’ underground mining experience.
Extensive coal mining project experience.
Strong studies and project development capability.
Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
